BELARUS IS PLANNING TO PURCHASE THE FOURTH BATTERY OF THE ADMS “TOR-M2” IN 2016

According to today’s message of Major General Mr. Oleg Dvigalyov, Commander of Air Force and Air Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, Belarus is planning to purchase the fourth battery of the ADMS “TOR-M2” in 2016.

“We are keeping on re-equipping our military units and bases. This year we are planning to purchase the fourth battery of the ADMS “TOR-M2” – said Mr. Oleg Dvigalyov.

“We are going on with upgrade of our radio-radar troops as well.  The Armed Forces have already set about purchasing the Russian-manufactured “Protivnik” system which is to ensure three-coordinate detection of aerial targets. This shall enable weapon units to receive higher accuracy data. We also keep purchasing Belarusian-manufactured radars “Rosa” and “Vostok” and carry on upgrade of the weapons in service,” – added Mr. Dvigalyov.

The 120th Guard Air Defence Missile Brigade received the first and the second ADMS “TOR-M2” batteries in 2011 and 2012 followed up by the third ADMS battery in 2014.

The ADMS “TOR-2M” ensures efficient Air Defence protection of military and civil objects. The ADMS is capable of fulfilling its tasks under any climatic conditions.

BELARUSIAN YAK-130 AIRCRAFT TO TEST AIR-TO-AIR ROCKETS

Belarusian Yak-130 aircraft will test air-to-air rockets for the first time in the former air force exercise area Polessky in Gomel Oblast on 5 February, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told.

According to the source, Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense units continue mastering the combat and training aircraft Yak-130. “Today Belarusian pilots will launch guided air-to-air missiles using Yak-130 aircraft for the first time ever in the former exercise area Polessky. Such exercises allow preparing the flight crews for performing combat tasks as part of the air defense routine,” said representatives of the Defense Ministry.

Apart from that, small-range air defense missile systems such as Tor-M2 will fire live in Gomel Oblast to test the performance parameters specified by their manufacturers. Units of the 120th air defense missile brigade will take part in the live fire test. Air defense missile systems Tor-M2 are designed to launch rockets on the move. Apart from that, air defense missile systems Stilet will be tested. They are designed to protect ground units, industrial and military installations from all types of modern and prospective air assault systems that fly at extremely low, low, and medium altitudes.

BELARUSIAN AIR FORCE AND AIR DEFENSE SUBDIVISIONS GO ON COMBAT DUTY IN NEW POSITION AREAS

"The range of AF and AD subdivisions have marched to the designated areas and within the prescribed time limits have gone on combat duty. Aviation has accomplished a mission on decentralization, crews of MiG-29 and Su-25 aircraft and Mi-8, Mi-24 helicopters have gone on combat duty. Radar field is enhanced by the actions of mobile low-altitude radar groups of radiotechnical formations", - informed in the Ministry of Defense.

Military units and subdivisions of the 6th, 11th and 120th  separate mechanized brigades perform tactical training with combat firing on firing ranges.

Subdivisions of the 19th separate mechanized and 103rd guards separate mobile brigade perform march in the combined way. Having reached the designated regions, military personnel shall accomplish a number of tasks related to engineering equipment,  position camouflaging, field camp deployment.

At present time about one thousand of the enlisted men have been call out for military units regeneration.

Objects protection has been tighten on arms depot, armament and ammunition bases as well the necessary measures to ensure the safekeeping of armament, ammunition and other military equipment have been taken.

BELINTERSAT-1 SATELLITE LAUNCHED FROM CHINA‘S SPACE PORT

The Belarusian telecom satellite has been launched into orbit from China's Xichang Satellite Launch Center, reports citing nasaspaceflight.com. The Belarusian satellite with a designed life of 15 years will provide a wide range of telecommunication services, including satellite TV, radio broadcasting and broadband Internet access.

The Belintersat-1 was built by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp. The car-sized satellite weighs more than 5.2 tonnes. The Belintersat-1 is equipped with a solar battery with 22-meter wings.

The project is commercial and designed for sales across many regions. Consumers will be also offered to use the satellite to develop their own corporate communications networks.

BELARUS' ARMED FORCES UNDER COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW

A comprehensive review of the Armed Forces has kicked off in Belarus following the corresponding decision of Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov.

The events will be supervised by head of the Armed Forces General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister Oleg Belokonev.

Some military units and subdivisions have already been given a standby order.

The review will assess the readiness and capability of performing the corresponding tasks by both military units and subdivisions as well as all associated subsystems, including administrative and technical support services.

Major efforts will be focused on full and timely overall support of military units and subdivisions in permanent dispositions and areas of military training missions.

The review will be wrapped up with tactical exercises and field firing.
